Word Counter โ FAQs
Is this word counter really free?
Yes, it is completely free with no account, no signup and no usage limits. You can count words in as many documents as you like, at any hour of the day. There are no hidden fees, no premium upgrades and no locked features โ every statistic shown is available to every visitor, forever.
Is my text uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. All counting happens inside your own browser with JavaScript, so your words never travel over the internet. We do not save, log or analyze your text on any server, which makes this tool safe for school essays, client drafts and sensitive documents.
How are sentences and paragraphs counted?
Sentences are found by splitting your text at full stops, exclamation marks and question marks, then ignoring empty fragments. Paragraphs are counted as non-empty lines separated by line breaks. These simple rules work reliably for essays, articles, reports and everyday writing in English and many other languages.
How is the reading time estimated?
Reading time divides your word count by an average adult reading speed of 200 words per minute. For short texts it shows seconds instead of minutes. Treat it as a guide for a typical silent reader โ dense, technical or unfamiliar material usually takes a little longer in practice.
