What is a normal tip percent for restaurants?
It depends on the country and the service. In many places 10 percent is standard for decent service and 15 to 20 percent for excellent service. The presets cover the common choices, and the slider lets you pick anything from 0 to 50 percent.
How does the bill splitting work?
The tool adds the tip to the bill to get the grand total, then divides it equally by the number of people you enter. If some people ordered much more than others, split those items separately first and use this tool for the shared remainder.
Is the tip calculated before or after tax?
This calculator applies the tip percent to the bill amount you enter, so the choice is yours. Enter the pre-tax amount if you prefer tipping on the food total, or the full amount if you want the tip to cover the tax as well.
