Online Stopwatch โ€” FAQs

Is this online stopwatch free to use?

Yes, the stopwatch is completely free with no sign-up, no time limits and no usage caps. You can start, pause and reset it as many times as you like, and record as many lap times as you need for your session.

Is my timing data sent to a server?

No. The stopwatch runs entirely in your browser using local JavaScript timing. Your lap times and elapsed time never leave your device, are never uploaded anywhere, and disappear when you close the page. There is no account, no tracking and no storage of any kind, so even sensitive sessions stay fully private.

How accurate is the stopwatch?

The display updates roughly every 50 milliseconds and shows hundredths of a second. For casual timing of sports, study sessions, cooking and experiments this is more than enough, though it is not certified for official competitions.

What is the difference between lap time and total time?

Lap time is the duration of the current split, measured since the previous lap button press, while total time is the elapsed time since you first pressed Start. The table shows both columns so you can compare each segment against the overall session.
