Password Strength Checker — FAQs
Is the password strength checker free?
Yes, completely free with no signup and no limits. Test as many passwords as you like, any time, directly in your browser, making it a quick security habit worth building into your routine starting today.
Is it safe to type my real password here?
The tool is display-only: your password is analyzed in your browser's memory and is never stored, logged or transmitted anywhere. For maximum caution, you can also test a similar password instead of your exact one.
How is the 0–4 score calculated?
You earn one point each for reaching 8 characters, reaching 12 characters, using at least three character types (lowercase, uppercase, numbers, symbols), and using all four types with 12 or more characters. The score is capped at 4.
How accurate is the crack-time estimate?
It is a rough estimate assuming an attacker can try 10 billion guesses per second against the full character set. Real attacks use dictionaries and common patterns, so the estimate is optimistic — unique, random passwords are always safest.
